Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, founder of Sahaja Yoga
Sahaja Yoga was founded in 1970 by Mrs. Nirmala Srivastava, a simple Indian housewife who still travels to different countries to offer her breakthrough in awareness and joyfulness. Born 21 March 1923 in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, she is called Shri Mataji ("Mother") in appreciation for her motherly and compassionate personality. "Sahaja Yoga sparks a spiritual awakening--the union--which really is the root of our existence and well-being," explains Shri Mataji. Sahaja Yoga integrates the ancient wisdom of balance and enlightenment with today’s practical realities.
